Blackjack

Blackjack's goal is to beat the dealer with a higher total score. In order to achieve this, players need to get a score close to or of 21 without ever exceeding it. Exceeding 21 is considered a bust and a loss. If you are happy with the hand that you have, the dealer will reveal his second card and determine the ultimate winner.

How to play

To begin with, every player will make a bet. After that, the dealer will distribute two cards to every player and to himself. The players' cards will both be face up, while the dealer only shows one face-up card and holds one hold card face down.

The player situated at the left of the dealer starts by receiving or declining extra cards and this keeps going in a counter-clockwise manner. The round ends when everyone has refused extra cards. After that, the dealer shows his face down card, stands or hits, and gives out the winnings accordingly.

The hand of the dealer is considered the highest after the initial cards get dealt and any Ace that he gets is considered to have a value of 11 points.

One exception does exist for this rule, though, and this is usually indicated on the table's surface itself. If the table says "Dealer Hits on a Soft 17", the dealer needs to draw an extra card if his starting hand is an Ace and a 6, for example.

This gives the players a great disadvantage, though, and your chances of winning blackjack games will get better if you play games that only force dealers to stand with soft 17s.

If the score of the dealer stands at or is lower than 16, he has to hit and get an extra card.

Wins and Losses

If the dealer ends up with a score lower than you while neither of you exceeded 21, then you win. However, if the scores are completely, equal, you get a "push" or a tie and nobody loses or wins. If you have a lower score compared to the dealer and he doesn't exceed 21, then you lose.
