In roulette, around eight players usually play versus the casino, which is represented by a dealer or croupier. This dealer spins the wheel and deals with the bets and payouts. When it comes to the European and French version of the game, the wheel comes with 37 slots consisting of a zero and 36 numbers. In America, however, the majority of roulette wheels come with 38 slots and two zeros.
Every player buys chips of different colors, so that they don't mix up their bets with others. By the game's end, winners can get cash chips in exchange for their colored chips again. The special chips have a value on them, several denominations of which have different colors. The chips can then be taken to the cashier where real money is given in exchange for them.
To play the game, place your choice of bet on the numbers on or outside the table and after everyone has made their respective bets, the dealer will begin to spin the wheel and launch the ball. Several minutes prior to the ball dropping on the slots, bets can no longer be made or changed. Only after winners have been announced on the table and all losing bets have been cleared can you begin to place new bets as the dealer pays out the winners.
The House Edge
On tables with one zero, the house edge stands at 2.7%. On tables with two zeros, it stands at 5.26%. The house edge can be gained by giving the winners several less chips than could have been without the edge.
The Goal of the Game
In order to win roulette games, players have to guess where the roulette ball is going to drop into after every spin. This isn't easy at all. As a matter of fact, chance is a vital factor here. Several players tend to go for the "hot" winning numbers that seem to appear more, while others check for the numbers that haven't appeared in a while and make bets on those because they think they are due soon.
Several players choose to bet on a lot of numbers with hopes of increasing their odds of winning with each spin. However, the payout goes down significantly when this is done. Other players also choose to use certain methods or systems of roulette, or even systems of money management.
